Athlete & Family Support
You Don't Have to Navigate Epilepsy Alone.
Living with epilepsy can bring questions, uncertainty and challenges that extend far beyond seizures. 1 in 26 HUDDLE creates supportive spaces where athletes, families, caregivers and members of the epilepsy community can come together, share experiences, learn and feel understood.
Just like a team comes together in a huddle for support and direction, we believe no one should have to navigate epilepsy alone.
NEW DIAGNOSIS HUDDLE
Finding support from the very beginning.
A new epilepsy diagnosis can bring a lot of questions for both the individual and their family. Our New Diagnosis Huddles create a welcoming environment to connect with others who understand the journey, hear lived experiences and learn about resources that may help along the way.
These conversations can explore adjusting to a diagnosis, talking with family and friends, finding your support system and learning how to continue pursuing the activities you love.
ATHLETE HUDDLE
Your diagnosis doesn't take away your identity as an athlete.
Athlete Huddles bring together athletes living with epilepsy and other conditions to connect through their shared love of sports and movement.
Conversations can focus on confidence, communicating with coaches and teammates, navigating setbacks and staying connected to your athletic identity. Most importantly, athletes have an opportunity to meet others who understand what it can feel like to balance a medical condition with the desire to keep playing.
PARENT & CAREGIVER HUDDLE
Supporting the people who support the athlete.
Parents and caregivers carry their own questions, fears and responsibilities when someone they love is living with epilepsy.
Parent & Caregiver Huddles provide a space to connect with other families, share experiences and discuss topics such as communicating with coaches and schools, supporting independence, navigating sports participation and finding a balance between protection and encouragement.
Sometimes the most valuable support comes from simply meeting another family who understands.
MENTAL WELLNESS HUDDLE
Supporting the person beyond the diagnosis.
The impact of epilepsy can extend beyond physical seizures. Athletes and families may experience fear, uncertainty, changes in confidence or feelings of isolation.
Mental Wellness Huddles create space for conversations about emotional well-being, identity, confidence, resilience and asking for support. When appropriate, Huddles may include qualified mental-health professionals or other community experts who can provide education and resources.
Our message is simple: taking care of your mental well-being matters just as much as taking care of your physical health.
COLLEGE & LIFE TRANSITION HUDDLE
Building confidence for what's next.
Moving away from home, starting college, joining a new team or becoming more independent can be exciting—and can also create new questions for someone living with epilepsy.
These Huddles help young adults connect and discuss topics such as advocating for themselves, communicating with roommates and coaches, building a new support system and navigating independence while living with epilepsy.
The goal isn't to have every answer. It's to help young adults know they don't have to figure everything out alone.
