1 in 26 PLAY
Inclusive Sports Program
1 in 26 PLAY brings athletes with and without epilepsy and disabilities together through many different sports. We believe a diagnosis should never automatically mean giving up the activities, teams, and communities you love.
Our clinics combine movement, inclusion, epilepsy awareness, and seizure-safety education to create spaces where athletes can learn, compete, connect, and have fun.
INCLUSIVE SPORTS CLINICS
Bringing athletes together through the sports they love.
1 in 26 PLAY hosts sports clinics where athletes of different abilities and backgrounds can learn, move and compete alongside one another.
Clinics can include skill development, drills, games and activities led by coaches, athletes and community partners. Each event is designed around the participants and the sport while maintaining an environment centered on encouragement, accessibility and inclusion.
PLAY TOGETHER
Different abilities. One team.
We believe inclusion is more powerful when it's experienced—not just talked about.
PLAY brings athletes with and without epilepsy or disabilities into the same environment to participate together. By sharing the field, court or gym, athletes can build friendships, challenge misconceptions and see what their teammates are capable of.
The goal isn't to separate athletes because of a diagnosis. It's to create opportunities for everyone to belong.
MORE THAN A GAME
Every PLAY event has a purpose beyond sports.
The game may bring everyone together, but the impact can extend beyond the final whistle.
PLAY events can incorporate short epilepsy-awareness and seizure-safety components for athletes, coaches and families. Participants can leave not only having enjoyed a day of sports, but also with a greater understanding of epilepsy and how to support someone who experiences a seizure.
We play. We learn. We create awareness.
ATHLETES + FAMILIES
Creating an experience for the whole family.
PLAY isn't only about the athletes participating on the field. Our events can also create opportunities for parents, caregivers and siblings to connect with one another and become part of the 1 in 26 community.
Families can meet others who understand similar experiences, learn more about epilepsy and discover additional resources and programs available through the foundation.
COACHES WHO ARE READY
Education belongs on the sidelines too.
Coaches and volunteers can play an important role in creating an inclusive experience.
PLAY events can incorporate seizure-safety education for coaches, trainers and volunteers so the people supporting athletes have a better understanding of epilepsy and basic seizure response.
Organizations looking for more extensive education can also participate in our 1 in 26 READY program.
